Reiki healing can also be given and received equally effectively hands-off or via distant healing. The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ literally translates as universal life force energy.

Reiki is given fully clothed in a quiet environment and is safe for adults, children, mothers–to–be, babies.

This system of healing was developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It is a non-invasive complementary therapy that has been taught and used in Western culture since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has for thousands of years worked with this energy, recognising its flow through all living things. Reiki supports orthodox medicine or can be used alone but is not a replacement for traditional medication or treatments. It is not based on any belief, faith or suggestion, yet, scientific research using quantum physics is starting to help us to understand how Reiki healing may work to benefit the individual. It has been suggested that in years to come it may be known as energy medicine based on scientifically measurable energy emitted from the practitioner’s hands. Scientific research into the field of energy work click here

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing, helping to reduce stress and optimise good health by building resilience. It is a touch therapy that is based on the ancient Chinese belief in qi (pronounced “chee”), or “vital energy.”

Energy or ‘qi’ flows through each person. When a person feels stressed, their body blocks qi. This can cause an imbalance in the body that leads to illness. Reflexology aims to keep qi flowing through the body, keeping it balanced and disease free.

This is achieved through applying varying pressure through different points on the feet to help release the ‘qi’, positively affecting the function of different organs and systems of the body.

Reproflexology™ is an extension of reflexology developed by Barbara Scott to further aid and support a women’s fertility journey. This treatment focuses on certain and specific areas of the foot that relate to reproductive and endocrine function.

Both Reflexology and Reproflexology™ are performed with the client fully clothed. The practitioner applies specific thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques without the use of oil or lotion.
